How we handle your information.

No legal fog. This page explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are, in the same plain English we use everywhere else.

Who we are

Crows & Ravens Ltd is a boutique advisory firm based in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, working internationally. We are registered in England & Wales (company no. 16136920), registered office Collingwood Buildings, 38 Collingwood Street, Newcastle NE1 1JF. For anything in this notice, contact us at hello@crowsravens.com. We are the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect, and why

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, company (optional) and message, so we can reply to your enquiry.
  • The Raven Brief (our Insights email). Your first name (optional) and email address, so we can send you the notes you subscribed to. We only add you if you ask us to.
  • WhatsApp. If you choose to message us through the WhatsApp button, we receive your phone number, your profile name and your message, so we can reply. The conversation runs on WhatsApp (a Meta service), under WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy; the button itself sets no cookies and sends nothing until you send a message.

That is the full list. The site does not require an account, and we do not buy, sell or rent contact lists.

Our lawful basis

  • Legitimate interest: responding to an enquiry you sent us.
  • Consent: the Insights newsletter. You opt in deliberately and can withdraw at any time by using the unsubscribe option in any email or by writing to hello@crowsravens.com.

Where your information goes

Form submissions are delivered to our inbox by a third-party form service (Formspree or Web3Forms), acting as our processor. WhatsApp messages are carried by WhatsApp (Meta). Your details are then held in our email, messages and contact records. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Our processors may store data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK GDPR-compliant safeguards such as the UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and analytics

Today, this site sets no advertising or analytics cookies.

We do plan to use analytics in future, to understand which pages people find useful. When we switch it on, here is what that will mean:

  • What we will use. Google Analytics, and possibly conversion measurement from Google Ads, LinkedIn or Meta if we run campaigns.
  • What it collects. The pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, your device type and an approximate location derived from your connection. We will use this to see patterns and improve the site, not to identify individuals.
  • You decide first. A consent banner will ask before any of these cookies are set. If you say no, nothing is set and the site works exactly the same. You will be able to change your mind at any time.

Until that banner appears on the site, you can take this page at its word: no tracking is running.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and WhatsApp messages: up to three years from our last contact, so we can pick a conversation back up where it left off.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us, at any time, to:

  • show you the information we hold about you (access);
  • correct it (rectification);
  • delete it (erasure);
  • limit how we use it (restriction);
  • hand it over in a portable format (portability); or
  • stop using it for a particular purpose (objection).

Email hello@crowsravens.com and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged clearly.
